If you are looking to buy a new boiler installation, keeping the cost down is always important for most people. Your new boiler cost can go through the roof when you don’t know what to look for. To keep your new boiler prices down, you need to look at a few different things.

Research, Research, Research!New Boiler Research Graphic

You must do some research when looking for a new boiler installation. This is so you know you are investing in a product you can rely on. Also, it is cost-effective for your budget.

There are lots of ways to do research, the simplest and most common way is on the Internet.

I can spend hours searching for the best deal when looking to buy even the most simple household products. For new boiler installations, it is so much more important than your average purchase. Putting some time and effort into research is important to keep potential new boiler prices to a minimum.

Manufacturer Matters

Buying new boilers like Vaillant and Worcester-Bosch is a good way to make sure you get a reliable boiler. But this will also make sure your new boiler cost is high.

New Boiler Brands Logos

As a Gas Safe registered installation engineer, I think Ideal and Baxi are the best two boiler brands around for homeowners and installers. I never have had any problems with them and they come with great warranties for which you will need to get an annual boiler service.

Ideal boilers have made a couple of poor boilers in the past (Ideal Isar/Icos) which gave Ideal boilers a bad name.

However, Ideal make great boilers nowadays. They are simple to use, simple to install, simple to repair, and really cost-effective for your average home.

The Ideal Logic range won the Queens Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

Cheap New Boiler Cost

Piggy Bank Tap CoinsYou can buy a cheap brand new combi boiler these days for £400, but chances are it will not be long before it breaks down.

Be looking to pay around £700–£1000 for a decent boiler or £1000–£2000 for a top of the range model.

You also need to buy a boiler flue (large pipe to take boiler fumes outside) separately. You do not get flues with the new boiler unless it comes as a package deal. Flues cost between £50–£100 for a standard flue kit. You may need a vertical flue which is more expensive, or you may need to buy flue extensions if you have a long way to go from the boiler to outside.

Buy Your Own Boiler

Buying the boiler yourself is key to keeping your new boiler cost down. You can buy new boilers cheaper online normally.

This is a good way to stop the plumber who is going to install your new boiler from making any profit on the sale of the new boiler cost.

If you know what else you need for a new boiler installation, then buying as much as possible before hiring someone to install it will also keep your new boiler cost down.

You will need –

  • Copper tube and fittings

  • Radiators and towel rails

  • Radiator valves

  • Central heating inhibitor and cleaner

So, to keep your new boiler cost down, buy as many materials as you can for the new installation, do your research before getting any quotes, and you must find a trustworthy heating installer.

You can also take out heating cover which will cover the costs of any repairs or maintenance needed. If your boiler is not still under warranty, then taking out some form of boiler insurance could be a good idea.

5 Heating Cover Pointers from a Local Boiler Repair Man

Plumbers ToolsGetting heating cover is a good idea for most people because it means you’ll always be protected against anything bad that might happen to your boiler and heating system.

We all need a heating system in our house, but those systems end up breaking down, eventually. As you probably know, heating equipment and combi boiler prices can be very expensive. It’s important to be sure that we can fix whatever breakdown our system suffers.

Boiler repairs can be expensive. It really pays off to be insured. Here are five important factors to consider –

Who is responsible?

If you live in council housing or pay rent to a private landlord, you need not repair your heating system because they’re responsible for such repairs.

If you own your own home, then you need cover because the money used to fix your heating system comes from your pocket. When you own your own home, you’re responsible for everything that might need fixing and believe me that fixing your boiler can be pricey.

You always get free heating cover when getting a new boiler installation as you get a warranty with the new boiler. Providing you get an annual boiler service, you will be fully covered for any boiler problems you may have.

What heating cover to choose.

You can get cover that insures only your boiler, or that insures everything related to the heating of your home like pipes and radiators.

Each kind of heating cover has its own price but I recommend one that covers everything because you don’t pay much more and that way you can completely relax knowing you will be fully protected against any heating system problems.

Which company?

This is a very important point because it will affect the cost of your heating cover. Some companies charge higher prices for the same services and it’s important to compare companies until you find the one that asks the lowest price but still offer high standards of quality.

How much do I still pay?

You need to pay attention to the amount of money that the insurance company covers when taking out heating cover. This value varies from insurance company to insurance company and it’s important to know that they cover a big enough amount of money to fix whatever happens to your heating system.

If for example your heating cover is up to £1,000 but your boiler is worth £2,000, then you will only get £1,000 to towards your new boiler cost if you need to replace it.

Customer support.

Support is essential, and it needs to be 24/7 because you can’t be without heating for a long time. You need to get information about the quality of the support of your heating cover and make sure that they will answer quickly to your calls.

Associated with the support, you also have the time they take to fix your heating system and that time needs to be quick. Make sure that the insurance company that you choose can send a good plumber to repair your boiler.

You need to pay attention to the heating cover you take out and try to save money but you can also save money on your energy bills if you choose the right gas supplier.

Nowadays, life isn’t easy and we need to save money, however, we can and that’s why it is so important to choose your insurance plan and your supplier wisely.

Find out the full Gas Safe registration cost to join the Gas Safe Register.

The Gas Safe Register, which used to be CORGI, is the official registration body for anyone who carries out work on gas appliances in the UK.

If you are not registered on here, then you can not install or repair any gas appliances including combi boilers, cookers, and fires.

Gas Safe Registration Cost

The Gas Safe registration cost is £362 plus VAT (£435 including VAT). This is your one time application fee which includes one registered gas engineer and covers you for the first year.

After 12 months, you will have to pay another £152 plus VAT (£183) for your Gas Safe registration renewal. Then again every 12 months for as long as you want to be Gas Safe registered.

The £152 renewal fee is only if you renew online. If you want to pay any other way, the renewal fee is £172 plus VAT (£207).

Any additional gas engineers you want on your Gas Safe registration will cost you an extra £25.98 plus VAT (£31) per gas engineer, per year.

Too Costly?

The Gas Safe registration cost can seem high when you are first starting out as a business. But, It’s one of the costs you can’t avoid.

I actually got a small start-up loan which my Gas Safe registration cost was paid for with. In addition to some plumbing tools that I needed.

If you like, you can sign up to pay by direct debit and spread your Gas Safe registration cost renewal over the year.

Just make sure you’re not late when you renew your registration. You will have to fork out a hefty £100 plus VAT (£120) penalty fee for a late renewal.

Gas Safe Notifications

There are also Gas Safe notification costs to pay every time you install a new gas appliance, normally combi boilers for me.

You must notify the Gas Safe Register every time you install a new gas appliance, and for this, you must pay £2.20 plus VAT (£2.64) if done online, or it’s £3.50 plus VAT (£4.20) over the phone.

I fit boilers that pay your notification fees for you when you register the boiler warranty online. So, therefore, I don’t really ever pay notification costs these days.

I normally fit Ideal and Baxi boilers and they notify Gas Safe for me, for free!

The registration cost is a lot to fork out in one go. But, once you do a few combi boiler installations and boiler services, you should be able to pay it off.

You should give people good value combi boiler prices for your boiler installations, especially when you’re first starting out because that’s what a lot of people look for.

Apply for Gas Safe registration if you have the correct qualifications. It’s The best thing I ever did.
